The Foundry brings two CATEGORY WINNERS and two GOLD awards back to Canterbury at the World Whiskies Awards!
Here The Foundry we recently had the immense honour of clinching two top awards at the prestigious World Whiskies Awards for our – Foundry Streetlight Single Malt Whiskey and Foundry Capstan Single Malt Whiskey. Allow me to take you on a journey through our triumph.
The World Whiskies Awards is the epitome of excellence in the spirits industry. The finest whiskies from around the globe are rigorously evaluated by a panel of international judges. As we embarked on this remarkable journey, we knew that our dedication to quality, innovation, and tradition would be put to the test.
Crafting our whiskies is a labour of love, from meticulously selecting the finest ingredients to overseeing every step of the aging process. Foundry Streetlight Single Malt Whiskey, with its smooth palate and notes of oak and caramel, captures the essence of Canterbury’s heritage and the role of The Foundry in creating the Victorian streetlights you see still today.
Meanwhile, our new Foundry Capstan Single Malt Whiskey pays homage to the Kent’s maritime legacy and the fact that the capstan style winch was produced and patented right here in our stunning victorian Foundry Brew Pub – hence the name of the whisky. Used to multiply the power of the sailors the capstan would be able to haul heavy objects (for example; the anchor) by means of cable, rope or chains.
What I believe sets us apart at the Foundry Brew Pub is not only our commitment to quality, but also our spirit of experimentation. While staying true to time-honoured traditions, we continuously push the boundaries, seeking out new flavour profiles and refining our skills.
English Whisky
We are now one of 49 distilleries in England who are part of the English Whisky Map. Now in its 8th year of publication, it’s a go to for whisky fans in England to seek out distilleries who have mature whiskies, those, like us, who are laying down new casks and those that are still in construction. Being amongst fellow whisky producers and enthusiasts is invaluable for getting our name out there to the wider community as well as helping us develop and push forward with new ideas.
Reflections –
As I reflect upon these awards, especially the Category winners, I am filled with pride and gratitude. This accolade is a testament to the tireless dedication of our team. It is a celebration of our shared passion for exceptional spirits and Canterbury’s cultural heritage.
We are excited to attend the World Whisky Awards in person next week, which will be the next step in exhibiting our whisky on a global stage. As well as the awards, we will be in attendance at the Croydon Whisky Festival along with other esteemed distilleries such as Still In Cask, The Lakes Distillery, and Masthouse Single Estate Whisky.
As we raise a toast to our success at the World Whiskies Awards, I am filled with excitement for the journey ahead. We continue to push the boundaries of whiskey craftsmanship. Here’s to the future and to passion, perseverance, and the pursuit of perfection. Cheers!
